Electronics & Acoustics Laboratory - Acoustics Department |
Manager:

Activities of Acoustics Department apply to:
- Testing of:
- external and internal noise generated by passenger cars, specialized vehicles, buses, trolley-buses, motor trucks, highway tractors, motorcycles, mopeds, and vehicles for special applications;
- exhaust systems and silencers of automotive vehicles and mopeds;
- warning acoustic signals and complete automotive vehicles in respect of acoustic signalling systems thereof, including anti-theft alarm systems;
- deadening materials used in automotive vehicles;
- testing of noise emission to environment by machines and means of transport;
- testing of noise and vibration (local and general) influencing human's organism,
- driver's seats of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors.
- Designing of exhaust silencers and complete exhaust systems for IC engines.
- Specialized measurements within the scope of mechanical vibrations and noise generated by vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Finding of the causes for, and the sources of, excessive external noise generated by vehicles, machinery, and equipment and lowering the level of such noise.
- testing of the causes for, and the sources of, excessive noise heard in vehicle driver and machine operators` cabs and lowering the level of such noise.
- Developing and testing of sound insulating and deadening material compositions and designs.
The Acoustics Department is authorized by the Ministry of Transport to carry out type-approval tests for conformity with the following UN-ECE Regulations and EU Directives:
- UN-ECE Regulation No. 28 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of audible warning devices and of motor vehicles with regard to their audible signals';
- UN-ECE Regulation No. 59 'Uniform provisions concerning the approval of replacement silencing systems.'
- Directive 70/157/EEC 'Permissible sound level and the exhaust system of motor vehicles'
- Directive 70/388/EEC 'Audible warning devices for motor vehicles'
- Directive 78/764/EEC 'Driver`s seat'
- Directive 93/30/EEC 'Audible warning devices for two or three-wheel motor vehicles'
- Directive 97/24/EC 'Certain components or characteristics of two or three-wheel motor vehicles'
Accreditation Certificate No. AB 082 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005) within the scope of:
- noise and vibration testing of automotive vehicles and component assemblies thereof,
- testing of vibration of deadening materials,
- testing of noise emission to environment,
- testing of noise and vibration on the working stand.
The basic measuring and research equipment of the Acoustics Department consists of specialistic measuring apparatus Brüel & Kjaer of new generation.
The research, development, and measurement work is carried out with the use of unique research methods and computer programs.
