The Automotive Industry Institute (PIMOT) was founded by the Council of Ministers dated August 11, 1972, as the central unit in the system of Polish automotive industry research and development facilities.

Institute's lines of operation cover scientific, research, and development work in the field of automotive industry problems.

Service offered:

  • Building of vehicle prototypes and making of test rigs for the automotive industry,
  • Mounting of specialized container-type vehicle bodies on automotive chassis,
  • Machining services,
  • Heat treatment services,
  • Carrying out of workshop measurements,
  • Mounting in vehicles and servicing of accessory heating equipment made by WEBASTO,
  • Prototype and short-run production.

Process methods available:

  • Machining within such as turning, milling, boring, drilling, threading, slotting,
  • Bench work (bending, press-forming, etc.) and welding of various materials,
  • Wide range of fitter’s work,
  • Heat treatment (quenching, toughening, carburising, annealing).

Stock of process machinery and equipment:

  • Machine tools (lathes, borers, millers, drillers, slitters’),
  • Cold-working machines (folders, benders, guillotine shearing machines, presses, contour band saw),
  • Welding facilities (semi-automatic machines for gas-shielded welding of steel and non-ferrous metals and for plasma cutting of such materials),
  • Furnaces for heat treatment and thermo-chemical treatment,
  • Shop floor area of 2 000 m2,
  • Separated areas for machining, bench work, and manual assembly work, with a large bench plate and an overhead travelling crane of 3.5 t capacity,
  • Storage and social back-up facilities.

Back-up facilities:

  • The Shop occupies a floor area of 2 000 m2 in total and has separated areas for machining, bench work, and manual assembly work, with a large bench plate and an overhead travelling crane of 3.5 t capacity, as well as storage and social back-up facilities.
