The Automotive Industry Institute PIMOT® was found by Polish Council of Ministers in 1972, as the automotive industry Research and Development unit.
PIMOT`s lines of activity cover scientific, R&D works and automotive products testing services. Institute is a separate and independent unit. It makes an unquestionable basic for impartiality of its opinion and test result obtained.

PIMOT is a member of the “Advanced Passive Safety” Network of Excellence under the 6th Framework Programme of the European Union. The objective of the work carried out within this Network is to enhance the level of road safety in the EU countries so that the annual number of road fatalities is reduced by half by 2010.
PIMOT takes part in the activities of two working groups:
WP 4.1.– Analysis of road accidents
WP 5.1. – Protection of passenger vehicle users, inclusive of children and pedestrians, within the scope of passive safety.

The objective of this project is to develop a method of manufacturing of modern lightweight suspension arms with their bodies made of an aluminium alloy and a method of optimum selection of the materials to be used, based on an analysis of both the current state of achievements in this field and the results of the research work carried out within this project.
