The Automotive Industry Institute (PIMOT) was founded by the Council of Ministers dated August 11, 1972, as the central unit in the system of Polish automotive industry research and development facilities.
Institute's lines of operation cover scientific, research, and development work in the field of automotive industry problems.

Mission of Automotive Industry Institute is to provide polish and European companies (mostly from automotive sector) with strong scientific and research support during the process of improvement of their products and their introduction on market. PIMOT is also oriented on international cooperation in order to develop European high-tech motorisation.

Automotive Industry Institute is a professional, reliable and economically efficient scientific and research unit (administrating modern infrastructure and modern laboratory equipment), actively participating in the process of transformation and development of polish national economy realised by the Ministry of Economy. Scientific and research potential of the Institute and intellectual potential of it's staff are comparable with the potential of other European scientific and research units.
